Work

I'm sitting at work reading a contract. I have the Ipod in, catching up on various podcasts I've neglected. I have on a pair of Levi's. They're tight. Too tight. And they are the loose ones.
Crap.

Tuesday, after work, the gym.

Just for the Record

I went and bought some new tubes. I installed new front and rear tires. (the front was fine really, but since I bought tires with blue sidewalls, I decided to replace both). I also installed another new rear tube.

Both tires are now mounted and have held about 70 lbs of air for a couple of days. Whew.

I also even lubed my chain. And I've now stashed an extra CO2 cartridge in my bag.

Maybe now I'll ride? Nah....

Hanging my Head

in shame.
So after all my mouthing off about fixing things, I can't get my new tires mounted. Granted tires that have been folded up for some time are harder, but really.

This sucks

I've pinched a ton of tubes.

I'll be at Performance after work, stocking up.

Good Intentions

Yeah, so I abandoned the blog for awhile. Then I wrote the last with the intention to start back up, but......uh, not so much.

I did get in another ride....where disaster struck. I need to trust my instincts. So REB and I were on our second 40 miler, trying to build endurance. On the way back I hear the pssst pssst psssst of a flat.

Odd flat. I stopped and noted that the tire was still holding air. And here's where it all goes bad.
I looked at the tire and couldn't find a hole. It also wasn't losing air, but it didn't have enough for me to ride out on. So, I pulled out the CO2 pump and shot in some air. As soon as it got some pressure in it, I heard the leak.

I stopped, and pulled the wheel. Here is where I got yelled at by every rider on the road. Apparently where I was sitting in the road I was in a shadow and was hard to see. Like I was going to sit out in the sun. In the process of swapping tubes and looking for the cause of the flat, I notice my tires are pretty darn thin.

I put in the new tube, hooked everything up, and grabbed the CO2. Emptied it into the tube. Hmm, can't get enough air in the tube. DOH....since I has used it earlier, I didn't have the full cartridge I needed to get the pressure up. No problem says REB, I have one. So he gets his and....its empty. Ugh.

First call to my wife who has just gotten to the kids gym with my daughter. Joining the gym was a reward for learning to ride her bike. Couldn't bring ourselves to make her leave. So, REB kindly called his wife who agreed to rescue us. Of course telling her how to find us and getting something to get 3 people and 2 bikes back to the parking lot proved to take a little time. So much for 40 miles.

Then of course the next weekend I was out of town, and this weekend I couldn't ride either. Oh, and I still feel fat and my blood sugar has been a mess this week. Double ugh.

Well, I bought new tires, which didn't really work out as I'd planned, but its all good. Now I just have to get them on the bike. Maybe I'll get to ride again one day, but my goal of riding a century really seems pretty far away at this point. May have to do the same as last year. We'll see.

Sigh...

Three Weeks

Well, I've now ridden for 3 weeks in a row, so I guess I'm now allowed to post and say that I've been riding.
And let me say I'm sore. I mean, sure, I haven't been to the gym at all but why do my legs hurt so much?? Saturday REB and I rode 40 miles. It hurt, but not bad. I came home and cut the grass and my quads were killing me. Thankfully this didn't last.
Its been a busy summer. So much going on. I'm still not sure how I'm going to manage doing a century for Heart of VA. If 40 hurts, how will I do 100? I was much more productive riding last year. Oh well, guess I can't do it all the time.
