Really. So I don't write anything for....however long and then its slit your wrists stuff.
The weekend was pretty rough, today a little better. Sunday morning was kind of tough, but I went riding with some Tri-Girls and REB, the honorary Tri-Girl. It was cold. It was very good to get out though and be with some very nice friends. I do however, wish for the day I can once again keep a good pace. Considering the cold and my lack of exercise, I guess I shouldn't complain.
Work today is very odd. Most people are cleaning up and leaving, not to return. Folks are finding out how long their services will be needed. I get the feeling that there is still a lot of guessing going on so I'm not willing to count on anything. Pretty sad watching people haul their stuff out. I'm pretty glad I have nothing here now so I can just walk out when the time comes. And, I'm told my time isn't for awhile, so that's nice, too.
Still however, you look at everything a little differently. Its tougher to tell your kid she can't do everything she's use to doing because we just don't know what will happen. While I think it is good for us, it does cause stress.
anyway....
So, maybe I should make a poll: how many weeks in a row do I have to ride to be able to say I'm riding again? I think it needs to be more than two. Gotta say it is really nice to be back out on the bike. We shant discuss the stats. I now need to fit back in my gym time so I can lose some weight. That would be great.
Maybe I'll post more, too.

There Will Need to be Some Changes
So, finally got back out on the bike. It was the usual suspects; Ironwoman Extraordinaire TG40, Zumbalete Magnifique TGTD, and Universal Biking Harasser/Overall Great Guy, REB60.
Yet again REB had led me to believe that it was going to be 50, or some such garbage. Infact it was 38ish, maybe 18 I can't remember. And, throw in some rain/snow for good measure. At least I dressed appropriately.
We take off. I do think I got some draft action for awhile. Not from Reb, tho, he was feeling kinda rough and really not with it. While I missed drafting off of him, I can't fault the guy for bringing up the rear, at least he was out there. Somewhere, I took over the lead and just had at it. As I've blogged, I haven't been riding. That usually means I ride sort of hard because I don't know any better.
So, we're trucking along, I'm doing ok, somewhat out of breath, but you know, I'm pushing. I hear some shifting behind me so I know folks are there. I keep at it. Yeah, then I hear giggling. And conversation. Chatting, if you will. And, yes, its raining and I'm panting. We make it up to the halfwayish point. The girls are all smiles and roses, whilst I pant and reach for the water. We make it down to the next back road and TG40 pulls out in front.
Whew, I think to myself, I could go for some drafting. She starts going a little faster. And faster....faster. It getting a little tough to keep up, I've long lost any draft. I start to think I should back off as we still have a ways to go. I glanced down at the speedo....19mph??????? WTF????? UP the HILL????!?!!!!!??? I back off.
Two hours later when we catch up (ok, maybe it wasn't that long), she says she had a burst of energy.
A burst of energy.
Yeah, or something like that. So, our world class Ironman, who hung on my wheel the whole way decides to ride at a race pace.
Did I mention she's younger than me? (hold on, I'm looking for some more excuses). This trigirl training thing is going to KILL me. I came home with the usual sore thighs but also sore shoulders and some other things I've forgotten.
Reb, should you decide to, you can hang on my wheel whenever, TG40, I shall be on your wheel. You've shown your cards, the jig is up, and don't think I didn't notice the "RACE TEAM" stickers on your bike. Oh no....I'm only fooled once.
It was a good ride. :-)

Open Auditions
My child would like to be a flower girl. I guess what one wouldn't, especially if they are girly. Well, we explained that it really wasn't in the cards because there wasn't anyone in the family to get married.
She came up with a plan.
She decided I should marry one of my TriGirl friends so she could be a flower girl. I'm not sure who Mom is marrying. So, line up ladies. :-)
I was going to give it a go on the trainer tonight...I could really use it. But, I bailed. Instead I decided to once again tackle my troublesome pedals. Since I can't afford to buy Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn any Zipps (I looked at the price....yeah, no), I wasn't going to be getting any Speedplays from her. Best make my Time's work.
So, I flipped the cleats. You can adjust spacing by flipping them (on a mountain bike you do this to adjust release angle...unless you're like me and took a grinder to them anyway). I also mounted them as far forward as I could. I had always had them moved back since that seemed like where the ball of my foot was in the shoe. Guess I was wrong. I was able to clip in every time, without looking, in the dark. I practiced several times.
It does feel different. The possibility exists that this may help my numb toe issue as well. It'll be awhile before I know about that one. Regardless, I'm happy(ish) with them again. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still curious about the Speedplay.
Finally, I came in and adjusted the float. I have them set on medium float instead of max. It seems to feel a little better this way. I'll ride like this for awhile and perhaps tighten them down more later.
So, after all that I backed out the cleat screws, put on a little Loctite, and tightened it all back. Good to go.
Saturday anyone?

I'm Back
Not that that's all that exciting. I have lots I could write about. I have a gazillion photos, but I have to go through them, and frankly I'm tired. And, I came back with a cold.
But, really, there is only one thing I want to say. I want to congratulate trigirl40 and TriGirl DL and all the other Tri Girls I know on their weekend. I just can't imagine the last year of dedication and work these girls put into this event. Hell, I can't even imagine a Triathalon, much less an Iron Man!!
So, I'll catch up later. I need to go read some blogs.
Girls, you rock!
